The M&E Directorate has adopted internationally accepted M&E standards to ensure M&E operations in the Country are compliant with international norms. The M&E Standards defines key elements and expected level of performance for conducting monitoring and evaluation. The Standards address the organizational environment in which M&E takes place. These are meant to improve the quality of M&E that is undertaken by all the stakeholders in order to achieve the desired results. The Standards address the following aspects: Reporting; skills development; human resource; conducting evaluations; undertaking monitoring; data collection; ethical issues; rights based approach and credibility issues.
All stakeholders are required to adhere to the set standards. MED in collaboration with partners ensures compliance through capacity building, incentives and sanctions. Confirmation of adherence is done through spot check and other administrative procedures.
